Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign marked the burial of the British Empire

The accession to the throne of Queen Elizabeth II marked the end of the colonial British Empire and the era of direct occupations, as enshrined in the Sykes-Picot agreement between Great Britain and France after the First World War , in which they defined their mutually agreed spheres of influence.

The remnants of this infamous agreement are the borders that were carved out and remain today like ticking time bombs.

After World War II, the United States rose to prominence and took over the reins of leadership, replacing European competition on the continent known as the Old Continent.

It was the result of a real struggle, where Britain could not match the strength of the United States in competing for spheres of influence, although it tried to maximize what it could get. of this war of influence and did not give up easily.

At the beginning of the new hidden conflict representing the replacement of British and French influence by American influence, this period saw the failure of the liberation movements led by the peoples of the lands occupied by the West, to begin the era of indirect occupation by the surrendered agents of the West. civilization.

This resulted in coups and developments that took place in West Asian and North African countries, including:

– the United States acting as the main sponsor of the entity supported by the British declaration Balfour.

– The transition from the British-backed monarchy to the Republic of Egypt, 1952

– The transition from a British-backed monarchy to the Republic in Iraq by Abd Al-Karim Qasim in 1958.

– The Tripartite Aggression against Egypt, 1956.

– The coup against the Mossadegh government in Iran, 1953.

– The separation of Pakistan from India and the formation of Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan).

– The indirect domination of the Gulf States.

– White dominance in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Britain becomes an extension of America

The reality is that these events meant the transition from direct British colonialism to submission under the domination of American influence, under the guise of “independence”, “liberation” and tripartite slogans.

A new era of indirect colonial rule began, appearing hostile to colonialism and supporting liberation revolutions on the ground, however, the reality encompassed the removal of any power to rival America.

This turned the colonial countries of Europe, particularly Britain, into an extension of American policies acting under their direction.

Britain became the center of conspiracy exports and played a continuing role in the arenas where the US administration moved to expand its influence, often playing the dirty role necessary for unwarranted policies.

Examples of this include Saddam’s Western-backed war on Iran and Bush senior and junior’s war on Iraq which sought to directly consolidate the powerful US military presence, choosing Iraq as the center to direct the West Asian affairs.

Britain had a military and security role in supporting US strategy for the region, in return for certain investments and gains.

Britain’s inability to lead and be led in Europe

The process of integrating the countries of Eastern Europe into Western Europe after more than 40 years of communist rule was a colossal task, in particular because of the contradiction with capitalism on the march in the West. .

Germany took the lead with the transformations after the collapse of the Soviet Union, however, Britain was unable to keep pace with the transformations, let alone play the strategic task itself. even, treating it from the angle of the ethnic and service threat that immigrants can pose.

Britain did not like Germany’s leadership in the transformations of the continent in partnership with the French, and certainly not under the control of European legislation, which led to the separation from the European Union after the two sides have turned into a burden on each other since Britain could not play a leading role until it could stand being under the leadership of the EU.

Britain’s economy in decline

Britain went from being a pioneer of the Industrial Revolution to one where its industries declined and its economy became dominated by the financial sector and risky services.

Post-Brexit, Britain has become a limited economy in the midst of huge economies, Western America and Eastern Europe, not to mention China and its growing economy, which n is not far from being the largest in the world.

British colonial heritage

Queen Elizabeth II witnessed the era of declining British influence, retreating from an Empire on which “the sun never sets”, to a Kingdom that could barely keep its four provinces together.

Britain has transformed itself from the center of decision-making, with all that that requires in terms of planning, preparation and implementation, into an entity of limited influence, whose influence is marked by the vestiges of the momentum associated with the colonial legacy and its psychological impact on peoples, such as English being the most widely recognized language in the world.

Despite the radical change of role, whereby Britain no longer controls the direct colonies, the colonial mentality persists in the minds of policy makers, treating the former colonies and protectorates with contempt, although self-esteem and the deep prestige worn is not based on any tangible reality.

The last 70 years have marked the end of an era when Britain occupied an independent role on the international political scene, rather playing a marginal role between the most important roles.

This had been a dominant feature of Britain’s foreign role from the Queen’s reign and that role continued to shift and decline with successive governments, until her death and the handing over of executive power to the fifteenth government just two days before his death. .
