President stresses importance of ties with neighbors and allies in Iran’s foreign policy
The administration’s foreign policy is focused on maximum interaction with neighbors and allies, paying attention to the capabilities of regional and international organizations and developing economic diplomacy, Raisi said during a meeting Thursday with a group of foreign ambassadors to the Islamic Republic on this occasion. of the 43rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution.
He added that Iran’s approach to relations with countries around the world, especially with its neighbors, is not based on tactical but strategic considerations.
“Our approach in dealing with countries around the world, especially our neighbors, is not tactical but strategic, and we firmly believe in this in the hope that working with neighbors will bring more mutual and common interests to all countries in the region.
Raisi said his administration’s foreign policy is based on the principles and values enshrined in the Iranian Constitution and the directives of the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized its principled policy of strengthening good neighborliness, building trust and dialogue with its neighbors, achieving lasting security and creating a safer and more secure region. more developed only through cooperation, participation and peace”.
He added that the “clear messages” of the Islamic Revolution oppose hegemony and interference by world powers in the internal affairs of independent nations, defend the oppressed and seek independence in domestic and foreign policies. .
“The great nation of Iran remains resolutely committed to its ideals,” Raisi added.
He said his administration had, from the start, demonstrated its willingness to strengthen relations with neighbors and other international partners.
“In our quest for a new approach to diplomacy, we are trying to create a new chapter in bilateral or multilateral cooperation…in order to maintain regional and extra-regional security and stability and meet mutual needs,” added the Iranian president.
He said that among the important steps in this regard are the conclusion of a 25-year comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with China, the signing of a similar pact with Russia and the strengthening of cooperation with the Economic Union. Eurasian Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
At the same time, Iran also pays close attention to developing cooperation with African, Latin American and European states in accordance with the balanced, dynamic and intelligent foreign policy it has chosen to pursue, he added.
The President said that Iran has a sensitive and important politico-economic status and enjoys vast sea coasts and many potentials, especially in the fields of transit, energy, trade, agriculture, industry and technology.
Raisi noted that many arrogant powers try to prevent Iran from reaching the position it deserves; however, the Islamic Republic, “thanks to a rich history, civilization and culture, is an undeniable reality in the politics of the region and the world, a friendly country and a reliable partner as well as a privileged focal point for convergence economy with neighbors and other international partners.
