LGBTQ + is part of our adopted Western heritage – Azongo
A development planner lamented the ‘choose and choose’ mode in the crusade against the possible introduction of LGBTQ + into the country.
Mr. Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo says that the citation of African culture and Christianity by those who oppose the introduction of LGBTQ + culture into the country “is a hypocritical and defeatist convenience tool.”
Sharing his take on the current controversial debate in the country, he said that LGBTQ + “is just a symptom of the Western colonial legacy that we have institutionalized and zealously kept in the colonial mindset” the best comes. from the west “, which unfortunately even Christianity used to fight it, is a culprit”.
“The very elites who have demonized our ancestry, our institutions, our culture, our history, our humanity and our heritage in favor of western ancestry and the concept of humanity cannot turn around to choose which western value to accept and reject. .
It’s just a matter of sowing the wind and reaping the whirlwind, âhe said.
The LGBTQ + thing, Mr Azongo said, was just an offshoot of Western colonial heritage that demanded a holistic overhaul and a visit to our African heritage if indeed Ghanaians wanted to reinvent a new mindset of shared pride in African identity and concept. of humanity like Asians.
âIt is fallacious to wage the battle against LGBTQ + on the basis of Christianity because Christianity and LGBTQ + are just two sides of the same Western concept of humanity that demonizes African identity, the concept of God, the institutions and the concept of humanity in favor of the West. heritage, âhe told GNA.
Mr Azongo said it was “ironic that Ghanaians accept the European God, European angels with European names as absolute standards of humanity, demonize your identity, your ancestors, your history, describe your system of governance as archaic and primitive, your language as a vernacular, embrace European marriages, wear English names with pride and continually demonize African culture, the concept of humanity, the value system and turn around to choose when it suits you, by placing African culture as a basis â.
He pointed out that if Ghanaians wanted a holistic crusade against LGBTQ + people, then it should start with schools and religious systems that attacked all that was African and celebrated all that was Western, including its heroes, as creators of civilization.
This, he said, was the only way to stop the imposition of Western culture on Africans.
